Eric Knoernschild has been an active civil trial lawyer in East Central and Southeastern Iowa for more than 20 years. He has a balanced trial practice representing plaintiffs in personal injury and other matters including construction, business, and real estate. His practice also includes insurance defense representation.
In addition, he taught at UNI and Hawkeye Institute of Technology Community College, served as an associate district judge for four years, and prosecuted major felony cases as an Assistant Black Hawk County Attorney. In light of this varied background, Eric brings a wide range of experience to the mediation process. He has had the opportunity to work with and against many highly qualified trial lawyers. He has also participated in numerous mediations, both as an advocate for plaintiffs with significant personal injury claims and as an attorney for insured defendants.
Based on his experience, Eric is uniquely qualified to evaluate the relevant factors influencing the value of a case - such as the peculiar facts and circumstances of the case, the applicable law, the jury presence of both the plaintiff and defendant, and the venue of the case. In short, Eric can effectively move (and if necessary aggressively move) both parties toward reaching a fair and reasonable settlement.
